Orthodontic therapists are a new and vital addition to the orthodontic team. They are a group of dental care professionals that assist specialist orthodontists in providing treatment for patients. They do not make treatment planning decisions themselves but work under the close supervision of a specialist, working to their prescription. This frees more surgery time for the specialist and allows us to run our NHS clinic as efficiently as possible, ultimately reducing waiting lists. Orthodontic therapists are fully qualified dental nurses that have been accepted onto the Orthodontic Therapists Course and sat further examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons.
